An Exploration of Aging in Four Parts

Small-Group – Big Conversation

Designed specifically for adults who want to age better and age well, NTLP acknowledges that every participant brings wisdom and experience to the table. These insights, when shared, make for rich learning. NTLP builds on this through focused discussion of challenging issues in a safe space.

Facilitated by Psychologist, Dr. Mary Flett, this 7-session small group experience provides practical, useful information that will help you age better and age well. Topics explored include confronting ageism, having hard conversations, transitioning from “doing” to “being”, and defining what “enough” means in terms of emotional economics.

How Does It Work?

The goal of this workshop is to explore aging just as if we were on an expedition like the great explorers of old, uncovering new ideas and experiences, sharing insights, and taking our discoveries home. Our starting point is with our own histories and beliefs about how to age and what age is supposed to be like.

Then we will look at strategies for keeping up with technology, discuss how we plan to adapt to the challenges that aging brings, and explore what skills and attitudes are needed to embrace this shift.

Next we will look at our values and sit with the inevitability of our lives ending.

Finally, we will explore our personal sense of value and worth in a culture that is focused on youth, and create a legacy of values that can be shared with those we love.

No Time Like The Present

You will receive an email containing a meeting ID and a password. You will need both of these to log in. I recommend you print out a copy and put it by your computer. If you have never used Zoom, please click HERE to find instructions on how to join a meeting. I encourage you to try this out BEFORE our first session!

How do I get the most out of the workshop?

Each session is structured to stimulate your thinking, make it safe and enjoyable to share your wisdom and experience within the group, and encourage you to step outside of your habitual ways of thinking and try on new ideas. A recording of each session will be made available to you for download. This is for your use only and will not be shared with others outside this group.

You will each have received a workbook prior to the start of the workshop. The workbook contains additional information that we may touch on during our group sessions. It is for you to use to deepen your experience, as well as to share with us during the workshop as you wish.
